Questions About What To Do When Starting Trial Modification With Chase

Chase sent another letter through mail that says,to send them 2 months of pay stubs, 2 months of Bank statements, including the request for Modification Assistance, IRS 4506T, and 4506-EZ forms within 30 days.

A few days ago, I also have received a FedEx package included 'Required Documentation for Borrowers check list', 'Request for Modification and Affidavit', and 4506 Request for Transcript of Tax Return Form'

The relationship manager of Chase told me "I don't need to respond to anything of them and don't need to send any of those from the package."

What should I do? which one is the accurate one to follow through? I don't have much time to respond and send to them if have to. Hope to hear good opinion ASAP! Thanks a lot!! Mia

Always go with what you have in writing. Follow the written directions you were sent. You do need to keep copies of everything you send to Chase Loss Mitigation Department in the event that you will need to resend the data.

All the information that was requested in writing will be needed before your modification is made permanent. The requested data and forms are standard requests and are not optional.

A trial modification can be started without all the forms but all the above is needed to make the modification permanent so go ahead and send everything in now.

As you've now begun the path of modification with Chase, you have my deepest sympathies. Expect that they will "lose" or that their "incoming fax is not working properly" for at least 3-5 months. Add to that because they are "so busy helping homeowners" that your mod may take up to a year or more. Also, if and when you get modified - it should take about a year, (90 days is a complete and utter farce) expect that they will roll all of the money that equals the difference between the modified payment and your original payment, for the entire time that they've been lying to you, to be added to your existing principal owed....So if you're already close to upside-down in your LTV, this will DEFINITELY make you upside-down making your home an investment no longer....

I keep seeing this situation over and over where the lender strings along unsuspecting borrowers who think their modification is going through and everything is OK until one terrible day they are foreclosed on. Modifications are real but people need to understand the mortgage institution's rules and agenda going into the process. You can't trust banks or lawyers to tell you the truth.
